Can landlords get the £7,500 heat pump grant?

Last verified: 20 August 2026 — against GOV.UK.

Yes. The Boiler Upgrade Scheme is open to property owners — including businesses, second homes, and properties let to tenants. A landlord can apply for the £7,500 grant, subject to the other eligibility rules.

The scheme is not limited to owner-occupiers. GOV.UK’s eligibility guidance treats the property owner as the applicant, and that owner may be a business, may own the home as a second property, or may let it to tenants. One grant is available per property.

The usual exclusions still apply. A property cannot get the grant if it is social housing, a new build still under construction, or a property that has already received government funding for a heat pump or biomass boiler.
